Five Verses That Grab The Truth Of Easter

“…that… we too might walk in newness of life."

Romans 6:4b

Theme

We are blessed

when we measure

what He bought for us

that first Easter.

Introduction

It takes a lot of looking to see what can be seen…

1. LOVE REVEALED

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Ro. 5:8

What was demonstrated? His love, so we would know Him

For Whom? His love toward us; we are the objects of His love

Why did He do this? His very personal deep love revealed: His own love toward sinners

2a. PRICE PAID"When Jesus had tasted [the vinegar water], he said,

"It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his

spirit." John 19:30

He requested a thirst-quencher, knowing he was going

to make a final statement but was running out of air

and moisture to be able to speak. A bit of moisture on

the tongue and throat and he was ready. He had

enough breath and voice to say, “the work on the cross

is done.” He had not finished a lot of other things but

he had finished the work to be done in His earthly,

soon to be glorified body.

2b. PRICE PAID

What was bought? Mankind was redeemed

What price was paid? The sins of the whole world were laid on Him.

What was “finished”?

Acts 13:38b “…through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified [i.e., rescued] from everything [i.e., you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.

3a. RESSURECTION CONFIRMED

"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." Matt 28:6

Where had He gone? Preparing Himself for timely appearances

What has He done? Overcame death

How was this done? Took the entire Godhead to do it!

3b. RESSURECTION CONFIRMED

The Father - Acts 2:24

The Holy Spirit - Romans 8:11

The Son -

Jn. 10:18 No-one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.

Jn. 2:19-21 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” The Jews replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body.

4. FREEING FAITH

"And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins."1 Corinthians 15:17

5. MADE NEW

"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4
