Following is a slide presentation showing riders, horses and the facilities ofWits End Equestrian Centre

Home of residential horse camps, all about horses day camp….

At Wits End we offer a friendly, engaging program that is “tweaked” to suit each individual rider.

We provide coaching on some very special horses.

Our beginners are started on easy-going, sensible school masters. Intermediate and advanced riders progress gradually to more and more complicated and talented horses.

The pictures that follow depict the energy, focus, sense of humour, mastery of challenges, wonder and excitement that are all part of the Wits End experience.

Our excellent summer programs offer dedicated young riders a chance to spend time with kindred spirits while caring for the horses and enhancing their skills as riders.

Our “All About Horses” day camp program is proving to be very popular.

Each week, from Tuesday to Thursday all summer, we offer a full day of riding lessons, practices, farm chores and creative activities. The program runs from 9 to 5, however, drop off and pick-up timesare flexible. Generally any time between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Campers bring their own lunches and snacks. We ask that you declare any allergies or health problems on your registration. Each rider receives 2 riding lessons per day, as well as a supervisedpractice riding session. Age-appropriate "hands on” activities are usedto teach stable management (grooming and horse care). We mix up activities so that there are ‘exciting’ times, rest times and learning times.

The fee is $275 per week.

Riding in our field is like being on a trail ride.

This is a satellite photo. The blue area is the lake; the large white spot that is “almost” in the centre is our arena.

Swimming is not part of our day camp program.

Here are some answers to “frequently asked questions”

The ratio of campers to supervisors is 4:1

During lessons there are 2 supervisors for every 4 riders.

Our instructors are fully qualified to teach.

We have an indoor riding arena which is used if weather is poor.

First time riders are most welcome, as are those with previous experience.

Campers take care of the animals.

The number of hours of riding per day is left to the individual rider. It ranges from one to three hours as a general rule.

To ensure that campers remain “fresh”, we alternate activities between active and quiet and indoors and out. Lectures and chores are indoor activities. There are optional activities including crafts, arts, games, sports, etc.

We also offer residential programs during Winter and March Break and some weekends. This is our dining area.

Residential Camp Meals• Breakfast: cereal, toast, yogurt,

assorted fruits, bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles

• Lunch: sandwiches, soups, pasta, salad, fruit and veggies, pita

• Dinner: pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, shepherds pie, stir fry, rice, cous cous, perogies, chicken nuggets

• Snacks: egg rolls, popcorn, juice popsicles, cookies, ice cream, and lots of our own inventions! VEGETARIAN ON REQUEST.

Quote from a Parent:

“Alanna is great. She had such a good time. I was amazed that anyone could make such an impression on her. She said you were very smart about many things and she learned a lot from you. Don't worry she will be back…….

I would send her every weekend to see you. The kids have no grandparents so it’s very special to have another adult that they look up to. Not saying that you are old! It’s just really good to have another role model in her life.”

We have been operating the farm since 1983 and hosting camp programs since 1990.

We own the horses and use the same horses each year This ensures that we know the animals well and can match horses and riders based on size, ability and temperament.

Our focus is on correct and safe riding skills for both competition and recreational riding.

Students from all over have consistently recognized the superiority of our instruction program. Many travel great distances to continue their lessons with us throughout the year.

mounted games practice…
