Forest Floor
We predict that if we remove the forest floor the impact would be negative. Insects will lose there habitat. Saplings wouldn’t be able to grow. Birds can’t eat their insects. It would stop the food chain. When seedlings don’t grow, birds can’t eat berries from bushes.
Hypothesis
Where will insects live if there habitat was destroyed?
AnswerIf they were very adaptable they would be able to find a new environment but if they weren’t they would die or become extinct.
QUESTION
What would be available for food if insects weren’t there for birds?
ANSWERBerries. But there are lots of birds and not many berries. So they will fight and compete over the food. After a while they will adapt to this new life.
QUESTION
Why is soil so important to trees?
ANWSERTo make sure that the tree has enough food to stay alive. So it sucks up the water through the roots to eat its food.
QUESTION
The Forest Floor is the bottom layer of the bush. The Forest Floor is home to many creatures known as flightless birds, invertebrates and insects. The Forest Floor is a place for dead leaves, saplings and trees roots. This makes a perfect environment for these animals. Also trees need lots of water. They get this by there roots, when it rains the water goes into the soil and the roots suck it up to keep it alive.
WHY TREES NEED SOIL
DIAGRAM
We predicted that if we remove the forest floor the impact would be negative, we predicted correctly. We also predicted that saplings wouldn’t be able to grow, we predicted correctly.
