What is Forest School?

• "Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers the children and young people opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self esteem, through hands on learning experiences in a local woodland environment.”

•Quote taken from Institute for Outdoor Learning Forest School web page.

• Developed in Scandinavian Countries in 1990’s and now being used widely in the UK

• Uses areas of woodland, meadow or school grounds as an outdoor classroom

• Emphasis on ‘learning through play’, and this has a huge impact on the child’s all round holistic development

• Allows children to explore, discover, learn and take suitable risks

Our Ethos
