Audit report under section 12A(b) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, in the case of charitable or religious trusts or institutions

We have examined the balance sheet of DHAN (DEVELOPMENT OF HUMANE ACTION) FOUNDATION , AAATD2591B [name and PAN of the trust or institution] as at 31/03/2017 and the Profit and loss account for the year ended on that date whichare in agreement with the books of account maintained by the said trust or institution.We have obtained all the information and explanations which to the best of our knowledge and belief were necessary for thepurposes of the audit. In our opinion, proper books of account have been kept by the head office and the branches of theabovenamed institution visited by us so far as appears from our examination of the books, and proper Returns adequate for thepurposes of audit have been received from branches not visited by us , subject to the comments given below:

In our opinion and to the best of our information, and according to information given to us , the said accounts give a true andfair view-

1. The guiding principles that are fundamentalto the Trust are:

In pursuance of its objects and based on the guiding principles set out in para 'l abovethe Trust:

21 Undertakes prolects and facilitates government and private local institution sponsoredprojects for promotion, renovation and marntenance of irrrgation systems, and ofnatural resources by land treatment, watershed management, afforestation, wasteland development and management and also housing/housing finance for the needy

2 2 Promotes women's mutual credit and savings groups, associations of such groupsand federations of such associations to enhance the savings and borrowrng power ofthe poor to promote income generation activities for their livelihood.

2 3 Works wlth the poor through locally active groups, informal and othenvise, rn rneaccomplishment of its objectives.

2 4 Provides technical and management assistance to similar voluntary agencies,instituttons, government departments and funding agencies involved in developmentalwork in lndia

In the course of implementing the development projects the Trust facrlrtates the mobilrsation ofsubstantial resources from various rural development schemes of the government and banksand through participants' own contribution, which are directly channeled to the participantsThese have no monetary impact on the accounts of the Trust. This is in keeping with theTrust s polrcy of progressively strengthening the capability of the weaker sections to dealeffecttvely with development agencies and to manage development activrties themselves Theadmtntstrative overheads incurred on account of the technical/managerial support extendedare charoed as exoenditure of the Trust

Accounting Policies

The Trust follows cash basis of accountinq

Ftxed assets are fully written off in the year of acqursitron as expenditure rn the income andexpenditure account

However to present a more realistic picture of the value of assets appearing in the balancesheet, depreciation at the rates provided in the Income Tax Act, 1961 is being reduced fromthe cost of the fixed assets on the written down value method. Written down ialue of assetsso arrived at ts shown as contra on both the assets & liabilities side of the Balance sheer.

Where land and buildings are purchased for a consolidated consideration without break-uo.depreciation has been provided on such consolidated amount.

No depreciation has however been provided on staff vehicles as they are deleted whentransferred to the employees at cost on their repayment of the loan tbken to acqurre thevehicle

Professional equipment includes computers, projectors, cameras etc., and have oeen.J^^.^^;^+^! ^+ rL^ -^.-ueprectareo ar rne i'ate appltcable to computers.

Notes on Accounts

Offtce Land & Buildrng funded to the extent of (Gross Block) Rs. 6,25,23,87gl- from owncorpus and depreciation thereon (see note 6 above) has been retained as a separate item inSchedule 1 and 3 to ensure the disclosure of the corpus and the corresponding utilrsationagarnst tt.

Fixed deposits of Rs. 5,10,87,485 (previous year Rs 4,56,42,99 inctuded in schedute 5under the head Investments with REPCo Bank, city Union Bank and pandvan Grama Bankare under lien towards loans from the said banxs.

Ftxed deposits of Rs.95,984 (Previous year Rs 86,207) are under lien with Banks as marginfor the bank guarantees issued by them in favour of DWDO, Kolar and Government of India

Previous year's figures have been regrouped / reclassified wherever necessary

Compliances

The Trust has been generally regular in depositing its statutory dues including provident Fund,Tax deducted at Source (TDS) and any other statutory dues with the appropriate authorities.

The Trust has been regrstered under FCRA Act vrde FC Registration No. 075940407 dated21-Nov-2000 and it has renewed its registration on 2nd June 2016

The Trust has complied all its respective regulatory provisions.

The Trust has been effectively utilizing the Foreign and othergrants received.

The Trust has been receiving Government, International, lndividual, Institutional andCorporate Donor Grants for various projects undertaken and the Donor audits have beencarried out for all the major funded projects in the Institution Premise or in the Donor's Office.
