}  Foursquare  is  loca-on  based  social  networking  website.  

}  Founded  by  Dennis  Crowley  and  Naveen  Selvadurai  }  By  March  2011,it  has  7  million  registered  users.  }  This  service  allows  users  to  check-­‐in  at  the  venues  by  using  a  mobile  website,text  messaging  or  running  an  applica-on  from  their  smartphones.

}  When you tell foursquare where you are, that's called “checking in”.

}  When you check in, foursquare will let your friends know where they can find you and award you points and badges

}  If a user has checked-in to a venue on more days than anyone else in the past 60 days, the check-ins are valid under foursquare's time and distance protocols, and they have a profile photo, they will be crowned "Mayor" of that venue. 

}  Badges are earned by checking into various venues.

}  4sqDay is a global event launched in 2010 in Tampa. The event is held every April 16.
