PROJECT PROFILE PAVEMENT

For McMaster-Carr’s 5,500 cu. yd. distribution center warehouse pavement project the fi ber consultant recommended a higher dosage of macro synthetic fi bers as a viable method to reduce curling and extend joint spacing, therefore reducing the need for future joint repairs and issues. For this 6 in. thick pavement cross-section, the project engineers specifi ed 7.5 lbs. / cu. yd. of the 2-1/4” FORTA-FERRO® macro synthetic fi ber, and extended joint spacing from the conventional 15 ft. spans to 30 ft. or more, depending on panel and roadway layout dimensions. Even at the higher fi ber dosage, FORTA-FERRO® mixed thoroughly and evenly throughout the concrete, and provided a desirable broom-textured fi nish with minimal surface-fi ber appearance.
