Yuri Bukov cannot be constricted into a cliché. He is both pastoral and urban artist. His art is as much erotic as an art of the day. He also makes very distinctive portraits. What defines his art is his naivistic manner of work. The fresh and fine sense of humour and the very soft idea of laughter spiritualize his paintings, especially those in which human beings are present. Yuri has a very strong sensitivity about the Bulgarian spirit. Bulgarian nature and everyday life is the main inspiration for the artist. Thus, the paintings which have embodied the national atmosphere are as honey griddle-cake. A very strong poetic feeling goes from one painting to another as a red clue. This is the poetry of an artist who had become wiser with age. He, who had fallen in love with his dream is now understanding more and more clearly that this is becoming a chimera.
