Why Game Based Learning?Digital Game-Based Learning can play an

important role in learning material that is not intrinsically motivating to anyone, but which needs to be learned. (Prensky, 2001)

Need for interactive, engaging platforms for Meaningful Learning

Goals and objectives in games

Mistakes are committed in risk-free environment, able to learn to do things the right way

Traditional vs Game Based

•Tremendously Engaging•Catered to learner’s pace•Immediate feedback•Able to apply what’s learnt into the Real-World

Background Information

Primary 4Duration: 1.5 hours (3 periods)

Assumptions MadeHigh ability class

Venue: game lab with Nintendo Wiis Students are issued school laptops/tablets

grammatical features (nouns, verbs and tenses) that are specific to the procedural/instructional text type.
