The composition, tasks and equipment of EOD units

Introduction

Inclusion of units for disposal of explosive ordnance in the

organizational structures of NATO armies is filled through the same

tasks, requirements and preparing individuals and units are different.

In the British Army, these units are organizationally within the Corps of

Engineers, but also as part of the logistic units.

US Army EOD unit is integrated into the air, sea and land forces. In

the case of ground forces, these units are part of the engineer corps.

Czech Army EOD unit created and incorporated them into the

organizational structure of the Corps of Engineers, where it is

intended for the task forces for each operation or earmarks, like eg.

the Italian army.

Composition EOD Czech Army Units

Czech Armed Forces has in its organization Centre for technical and

information support EOD, and two companies of EOD, which are

subordinated to the individual engineer battalions.

Centre of technical and information support is able to:

• Provide information support elements ACR foreign operations

engaged in mine clearance and destruction of explosive materials;

• Create and verify procedures for disposal of unexploded ordnance,

improvised explosive devices, creating standard procedures for

such activity;

• Expertly manage / coordinate the training of specialists dealing

with the disposal of unexploded ordnance, improvised explosive

devices and mine clearance rate;

• Conduct training units in C-IED (EOR courses, mine awareness

training, Route Clearance training, search operations).

Composition EOD Czech Army Units

Each EOD company is able:

• Realize the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and Improvised

Explosive Devices Disposal (IEDD);

• Realize Bomb Disposal.

Tasks of EOD Operations

• explosive ordnance reconnaissance (EOR)

• explosive ordnance clearance (EOC)

• improvised explosive devices disposal (IEDD)

• chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear explosive ordnance

disposal (CBRN EOD)

Tasks of EOD Operations

Support to tasks:

• Searching

• Removing material stocks

• Preparation of military and civilian personnel

• Funeral services

• Other tasks
