Geometry in the Real World ( New York City ).

• By Caio Alves, 4th Block.

Point

• Undefined term in geometry, it defines a location that has no size

Line (Segment)

• The part of a line consisting of two points and all the points in between

Plane

Flat surface that has no thickness and extends forever

Angles• A figure formed by two rays with a common endpoint

Perpendicular Lines• Lines that intersect at 90 degrees angles.

Parallel Lines

• Lines that lie in the same plane, and are the same distance apart over their entire length .

Triangle

• A Three Sided Polygon.

Right Triangle• A triangle with one right angle

Pentagon• A five-sided polygon

Hexagon

• A Six-Sided Polygon

Square

• A quadrilateral with four congruent sides and four right angles

Rectangle

• A quadrilateral with four right angles

Trapezoid

• A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides

Parallelogram

• A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides

CircleA circle is A line forming a closed loop, every point on which is

a fixed distance from a center point.

Cylinders

A three-dimensional figure with two parallel congruent circular bases and a curved lateral surface that connect the bases

SphereThe set of points in space that are a fixed distance from a given point called the center of the sphere

Dodecagon • 12 sided polygon.

Arc• portion of the circumference of a circle

Cone

• Three dimensional figure with a circular base and a curved lateral surface that connects the base to a point called the vertex.
