GERASA, JORDAN
THE ROMAN MONUMENTS
1st-2nd century AD
Gerasa belonged to the Decapolis, on the eastern frontier of the Roman Empire. The ten cities were grouped together because of their language, culture, location, and their “autonomous” political status. The Decapolis cities were centers of Greek and Roman culture.
