Searching SportDISCUS

Searching SportDISCUS

• Subjects can be combined in the Find box eg: netball and United Kingdom

• If you use ‘field codes’ you can specify which index you wish to search eg: ‘su netball’ will search only subject keywords and ‘ti netball’ will search titles only

• Use the source index (below the Find box in the limit your results section) to limit to one periodical such as British journal of teaching physical education

• Use the publication type index to select for example ‘Journal articles’ to search for articles only

Search results

Search results

• Title (of article, book chapter, etc.)• Source: literally means ‘where it comes from’, often a

periodical title or if the item is a book chapter it may be the title of the whole book. To find out if our library holds the item, search for this title on our catalogue.

• Keywords: subject words assigned to that item which you can use to search on and refine your search

• Document information: the type of publication such as a ‘Journal article’ or a book/ conference report often called ‘Book analytic’ on this database.
