***** Led Acid Batteries lose capacity with every deep charge. Major things to consider: * Power meters on led acid batteries are terrible. On the Extreme 350 the least worse readings are while it is receiving a charge from the wall or sun. Even then, take the LCD value minus 20-40% to be safe. * Keep your battery at 100%. Less than that for more than a few days, and it DIES, QUICKLY. * Check the capacity when you purchase. IF THE DISTRIBUTOR DIDN'T KEEP IT CHARGED, ON THE SHELF, YOURS IS ALREADY DAMAGED. * Understand net power requirement: A. You'll lose 20% to the inverter (External on GZ, Inbuilt on others); B. 20% any Power Bricks * Be sure your dc connectors are fully inserted - ALL THE WAY. False positives very easy. * Periodically move your panel(s) to face the sun directly - increases effective sun 2-3x * Don't forget to figure the wattage lost to the AC inverter in figuring your actual times * Understand "Solar Day" for your location (google it): Be honest in figuring that early and late day sun, or overcast, cloudy days you may get only 10% power from your panels * Figuring your charge and run times is pretty easy to ball-park. Rember your ac, and clouds. The storage 'pool' of your battery is in watts. The output drain is in watts. Pretty simple. Just remember the Inverter, and Power Brick losses. * Remember, this is pretty new territory for everyone. Documentation is pretty horrible. The chart above is more than even the vendors, manufacturers, and distributors seem to know, or care to work out. It'll get better, but for now, if you are a pioneer, or early settler, proceed, eyes open. Otherwise.... * If you mix and match vendors for battery and solar panel, be careful, check, and think about connectivity. * TREAT YOURSELF - With the Extreme 350 you can acquire 50-100% more Solar Panels than you may think you need. Shop, pretty cheap now. Protects your battery life by avoiding deep discharges. What a treat to work all day long off of today's sun!
