Federal Documents

The FDLP was established by Congress to ensure public access to government information

Government Printing Office gathers documents, creates records, and sends them to the participating FDLP libraries.

Federal Depository Library Program

Jackson has been a depository since 1963, but have some earlier documents.

Check out some of our docs on Tumblr We have print, microfiche, and online

Finding depository documents

Majority of print documents are in Ferguson’s remote storage and are searchable in catalog.

A few are in cataloging (C, I, & L).

Major documents are in reference (Census, Statutes at Large).

Microfiche are in basement (for now).

The federal documents use the SuDoc Classification System.

The NC documents use a similar system. If a call number has a colon [:], then it is

a SuDoc and not LC. Example: PR 41.8:B 52/2

Want to play with SuDocs?

You've gotta ask yourself a question

Where can I find

information about my

polling place?

I need information on

malaria in Ghana.

I’m looking for statistics on cancer in the United States.

I’m trying to find demographic info on the US federal prison population.

I’m trying to find info on wetlands

in North Carolina. Do you

know where I could start?
