Greener Denver Business Program What is it?

Greener Denver Business Program encourages, measures, and monitors the efficiency and

conservation efforts of Denver’s businesses by providing no-cost resources like one-on-one

consultation, year-round training courses, industry network opportunities, and performance recognition.

 Greener Denver Business Program is a Greenprint

Denver initiative administered by the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED). 

All local companies are invited to participate.

How We Got Here

2006 State of the City address, Mayor introduced Greenprint Denver, his economic and environmental action plan

2007 Denver’s Climate Action Plan to reduce per capita greenhouse gas emissions by 10% by 2012

2007 Downtown Denver Partnership Leadership Program recommends Operation Possible: Greenbiz Denver

2007 Mayor Hickenlooper asked how we can make the 2008 Denver DNC the greenest convention in the history of the planet.

2008 almost 400 local service providers attend greening classes in preparation for the DNC

2008 Over 500 companies registered on the host committee on-line vendor directory for the green designation

GDBP Goals

Provide tangible evidence that Denver’s business community contributes to the Climate Action Plan’s corporate challenge goals

Maintain the momentum of the Greening the DNC Business Task Force as a legacy program

Engage Denver businesses in a discussion about the economic benefits of efficiency, conservation, and resource recovery

Create a local demand for green services providers and expand Denver’s green marketplace

Provide a more comprehensive, affordable greening solution for local companies

Promote the world-class greening activities already being accomplished by Denver companies.

Training curriculum with courses on energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, etc.(administered by CORE)

Industry peer-to-peer network programs providing opportunities to coordinate efforts with other green-focused business owners

On-line networking forum for companies to find local resources and engage with other green-minded companies

Searchable on-line Greener Denver directory listing participating companies

Greener Denver success stories will be profiled on-line and through the media

Greener Denver businesses will be recognized and highlighted at events throughout the year

Gather relevant documents Basic company info- contact information, number of employees and

square footage of buildings owned and/or leased 12 months of your electricity and natural gas consumption (Xcel bill,

lease invoice, etc.) 12 months of your water consumption (Denver Water bills free @

denverwater.org/consumption) Bill from your recycling provider indicating amount diverted Survey your local staff to determine the average weekly number of solo

miles traveled between home and work Energy offset info (Windsource, carbon offset renewable energy system

installation Names and e-mail addresses of 3 person green team.

EPA and the Greening the DNC Business Task Force Provide a list of upcoming Greener Denver trainings and invite

you to participate
