Every year billions of litter iis dumped around the world. Griffith Trash Trolls, want to have a positive impact on the environment, and create a community where it is socially unacceptable to litter, but currently there is no awareness of the littering issue around campus. Griffith Trash Trolls will address this issue.
Marketing Objective: To create a litter free campus at Griffith University Gold Coast by creating awareness among the students aged between 17-25 years old over a 9 month period.
Communication Objectives:1. Implement more bins around campus, make it easy for students to throw away their
litter. Aim to have at least an extra 50 more bins strategically placed on campus for easy access of disposing your rubbish.
2. Have less litter on campus, aim to have at least 25% less litter around campus by the end of the first semester and 50% less litter by the end of the second semester after 9 months of advertising and campaigning.
3. Create awareness on campus, this can be achieved by having a live event, posters around campus and social media and getting students involved in designing your own bin design. Aim to have at least 100 people show up to our “clean up campus day” event.
Social Media: Facebook
A page where people can anonymously post litter offenders or “Trash Trolls”, it allows people to catch out the culprits and create a community where littering is seen as socially unacceptable. Post 2-3 times daily, and also post news about the campaign.
Trash Trolls posters, flyers and bus/tram designs will be displayed around campus with different facts and designs on them, aimed at making more awareness and making students more conscious of littering.
Create a website, where people can learn about the issue, get information about the ways they can help, access information about upcoming events and enter their design for the Bin design competition.
bin design competition
Templates will be given to allow students to submit their own bin designs, the top 5 designs will be chosen and the students will vote on facebook for the top 3 designs. This aims to get students more involved and to help create more awareness for our campaign
Live EventLive Event
An event where people have the opportunity to clean up the Gold Coast campus. The event will also have a live band, sausage sizzle, and the release of the Bin Design winner. This will take place at the end of the campaign. Those who take place in the event will go in the draw to win a Student Guild gift pack.
Our motion typography video will aim to inform our audience about the problem, make students aware of why they should care and how they can help. It will be based around why students don’t want to be a trash troll. The video will aim to get our objectives across, our values and most of all make students interested enough that they want to make a difference and join in.
