Haddon Primary School celebrated the importance of literacy and numeracy this week

with a range of activities in the classrooms as well as multi aged groups throughout the

school. The book character parade is always a highlight of Book Week and so much

thought and effort was put in to the design and making of the costumes. It was

wonderful to see the older children sharing picture story books with younger students

in the school during our shared reading time. Be sure to look on our website next week

for some Literacy week photos.

Congratulations to the winners of the writing competition. It was very pleasing to see

students using their own time to write for the competition and it was certainly very

difficult to choose a winner!

The next few weeks are very busy, with Bike Education commencing for

students in years 3-6, 5-6 Basketball tournament and some students participating in

zone finals at Llanberris. ELC students will be celebrating Father’s Day with before

school activities. All students will have the opportunity to purchase a gift for Dad or a

special person at our Stall on Friday. If parents are able to assist please come to the

carpet are at 8:50am.

A reminder about the community Relations meeting in the Art room at 2:30pm on

Wednesday September 9. All parents are welcome to attend.

We are requiring some helpers that can label and glue paper together for our Art Show

next term. If you are able to assist at any time on Monday, Wednesday or Friday

please come to the Art room.

Will you be with us in 2016? If you know at this stage of the year that your child will

not be returning

next year due to a

change in

circumstances,

please inform the

office as this assists

us with our

planning. Being able

to anticipate our

enrolments as

closely as possible is

important so that

class structures,

staffing and budgets

can be determined

accurately for next

year.

HADDON PRIMARY SCHOOL PARENTS AND FRIENDS GROUP

REMEMBRANCE DAY 2015

POPPY PROJECT

This year to commemorate Remembrance Day, HPS Parents and Friends Group are launching our POPPY PROJECT.

We aim to knit enough poppies so that all students can purchase a poppy to wear on Remembrance Day with all proceeds

going towards the Red Poppy Appeal. All Students will be taking part in finger knitting lessons, so they can contribute to the

POPPY PROJECT.

We are also establishing a student Knitting and Craft Group which will meet weekly to work on this project.

Below is the pattern we will be using for our poppies.

If you are able to help knit poppies, it would be very much appreciated.

We are also seeking people to help our students with poppy making. Please leave your name at the school office if you are

able to help.

THANKYOU

Tuesday 1st Septemeber - Riding at Haddon Primary School

Thursday 3rd September – Riding at Haddon Primary School

Tuesday 8th September - Riding at the Haddon Go-Cart Track

Tuesday 15th September – Ride to Smythesdale - 5/6 only

On these days students will need to leave their bikes in the bike racks, under the veranda near their classroom, or under the veranda at the front or back of
