The 2015 Brit Award nominationshave finally been announced with,it seems, a few surprises alongside

the obvious candidates. The biggest name in this year's Brit

Awards is, of course, Sam Smith. Hefaces accolades for British Male SoloArtist, British Breakthrough Act, BritishSingle’ for his number one hit’ 'Stay WithMe', British Album Of The Year, for hisPlatinum debut, 'In The Lonely Hour,'and British Artist Video Of The Year, for'Stay With Me,' which featured a churchchoir.

But closely following him is yet againpop favourite, Ed Sheeran, who is alsoup for the same awards (apart fromBreakthrough Act) for his Rick Rubinproduced album, 'X,' and single'Thinking Out Loud'.

George Ezra is high up in the compe-tition - his single, 'Budapest,' and album,'Wanted On Voyage,' landing him nomi-nations to go alongside his British MaleSolo Artist and British Breakthrough Actnods.

Behind him is Brighton rockers,Royal Blood, and they're looking atawards for British Group, BritishBreakthrough Act and British Album ofthe Year.

Other artists being recognised fortheir achievements include EllaHenderson, FKA Twigs, Alt-J, CleanBandit and One Direction, with songsfrom Calvin Harris, Duke Dumont, MarkRonson, Route 94 and Sigma also hav-ing two nominations apiece this year.

Musical counterparts, from otherparts of the world, get their own nomina-tions as usual; the likes of Hozier and 5Seconds of Summer are among therecognised newcomers, alongside JohnLegend, Beck, Sia, Taylor Swift and FooFighters to name but a few.

Of course, the Brits had alreadybegun their award distribution, havingawarded singer-songwriter James Baywith the Brits Critics' Choice Award,beating George The Poet and Years &Years, the latter of whom became theBBC Sound of 2015 poll winners.

HEARD…he behaved in such an arrogantmanner, and gave his friends the impressionthat he had powers to do whatever he want-ed.

He even went to the extent of telling amusician friend that he could throw out aparticular band and give his friend’s bandthe contract – at a five-star venue in the city!

Thank goodness, all that bragging is nowa thing of the past – HISTORY.

Aubrey Weiman and hisgroup Heat did have aneventful 2014, culminating

with the big night – the 31st ballat the Cinnamon Grand hotel.

According to Aubrey, lastyear’ s New Year’s Eve certainlyturned out to be the loveliestnight of the year, not only forhis group, but all those whowere present, at the ballroom,to usher in 2015.

“We had a fantastic crowdand that gave us the impetus tocreate the ideal vibes to keepeveryone on the dance floor tillit was time for home sweethome,” said Aubrey.

His band has been doing the31st bight scene, at theCinnamon Grand, for the pastfour years.

“We always look forward tothis event, with much enthusi-asm, and excitement, as this isthe best, and most prestigiousdance, in the city of Colombo.”

Aubrey went on to say thattickets, for this super dance,were sold out long before theactual happening.

“I would say the CinnamonGrand is the best place to be fora New Year’s Eve dinnerdance,” said Aubrey.

The new year, 2015, is goingto be another exciting year forHeat, according to Aubrey.

They are already heating upthe scene, at the Margarita Blue,Galadari Hotel, on Thursdays.

The action is from 8.30 pmonwards.

The band also has quite a

few foreign assignments com-ing up.

In March, this year, theymake their first ever trip to theStates, for two events.

They do a private gig, inMaryland, Washington DC, onMarch 7th, followed by a showin New York, on March 14th.

A week later, on March 21st,they are billed to perform inToronto, Canada, at a dance,put together by St. Anthony’sCollege old boys.

They are also scheduled todo a dance in Vancouver.

This will be the band’s thirdtrip to Canada.

And then, in July (2015),Aubrey and Heat have threeshows lined up for them, inAustralia.
