by Dr. Roman Pachulski

The heart is an impressive organ that begins pumping just a few weeks after conception and continues to work diligently until death. Cardiac electrophysiologist Dr. Roman Pachulski shares some facts about your heart that you may not know.

About the Heart

• A human heart beats about 100,000 times each and every day. Over an average life, a person’s heart will beat close to 3 billion times.

Buckets of Blood:

• Healthy human hearts pump about 2,000 gallons of blood every day.

Where Does It Go?

• Nearly 75 trillion cells are provided with fresh blood via your heart every day. The only part of the body not on the receiving end of a daily dose: the corneas.
