MANAGEMENT LIMITATIONS

Due to floodplain regulations and water quality standards, there are limitations to land management activities at the Heartwood Buyout Area and all buyout areas managed by the Watershed Protection Department.

We are able to support: meadows, trails, orchards, community gardens, signage, and restoration of native vegetation.

We are not able to support: dog parks, playgrounds, buildings or anything that increases impervious cover. Such amenities are hazardous during a flood event or threaten water quality.

NEXT STEPS

• Create a management and stewardship plan for the Heartwood Buyout Area

• Implement changes in maintenance practices

• Continue to address comments while considering the management limitations required by floodplain regulations and water quality standards
