Prelude How Fair and How Pleasant Art Thou Marcel Dupré (1886-1971)
Introit And the Father Will Dance Mark Hayes (b. 1954)
Welcome Reverend Dr. Debra Murray
Processional Hymn Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain UMH 315 vs.1, 4, 5
Come, ye faithful, raise the strain of triumphant gladness; God hath brought forth Israel into joy from sadness; loosed from Pharaoh's bitter yoke Jacob's sons and daughters, led them with unmoistened foot through the Red Sea waters.
Neither might the gates of death, nor the tomb's dark portal, nor the watchers, nor the seal hold thee as a mortal; but today amidst the twelve thou didst stand, bestowing that thy peace which evermore passeth human knowing. Life of the Community Call to Worship Leader: This is the call! Face this new day, even when you aren’t sure…
People: We lift up our heads to meet the day.
Leader: Get ready for life, for life is all around.
People: We fortify our hearts with compassion and action.
Leader: If rain still lingers, open the umbrellas of hope and set out anyway.
People: For we are called to dance again!
"Alleluia!" now we cry
to our King immortal,
who, triumphant, burst the bars
of the tomb's dark portal;
"Alleluia!" with the Son,
God the Father praising,
"Alleluia!" yet again
to the Spirit raising.
Pastoral Prayer
Lord’s Prayer
Our Creator who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
Anthem I Believe This Is Jesus Undine Moore (1904 - 1989)
Scripture Luke 24:36-48 Gladys Kalas
Hymn I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light UMH 206 vs 1 & 2
I want to walk as a child of the light
I want to follow Jesus
God sent the stars to give light to the world
The star of my life is Jesus
Refrain:
In Him there is no darkness at all
The night and the day are both alike
The Lamb is the light of the city of God
Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus
I want to see the brightness of God
I want to look at Jesus
Clear Sun of Righteousness, shine on my path
And show me the way to the Father (Refrain)
Message Reverend Ann Duncan
Invitation to the Offering
Offertory Prayer
Mighty God, who brings life and hope out of death and despair, help us hear the invitation Christ
offered to the disciples, “Touch me and see!” Make us bold to grab hold of the risen Christ—not for
this day but for all our days. May we offer our gifts this morning not to the church historical—the
church that was—but to a church that is becoming, that is still being born, that Christ will bring into the
future. May our eyes and ears and hearts continue to hold on to him as we help Christ lead his church
forward! In his name, we dance and pray. Amen.
Offertory Take Time to Be Holy Charles Callahan (b. 1951)
Doxology Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow UMH No. 94
Closing Hymn Be Thou My Vision UMH 451
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou and Thou only, first in my hear;
Great God of Heaven my treasure Thou art.
Great God of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Benediction Reverend Dr. Debra Murray
