We will use the reverse of the 6 step cross-over to do this.1. Separate the 2 elements or polyatomic ions.2. Add 1's to elements with no number.3. Cross-over bottom to top.4. Add charges- 1st one is +, 2nd one is -5. Make sure the charges match the expected charges in the PT or PAL.6. Write the name. Metal stays the same, nonmetal drops its ending and adds -ide. For transition metals, change the charge to roman numerals, place in parentheses following the metal name. [Fe2+ would change to Iron (II) ]
