What are “The Whites”?• The White Mountains are a mountain range that cover about 25% of New Hampshire and a small portion of western Maine in the US.

• Part of the Appalachian Mountains, they are considered the most rugged mountains in New England.

• Its most famous peak is Mount Washington 6,288 feet (1916 m) is the highest mountain in the North Eastern U.S.

• Home to the fastest winds (231 mph or 372 km/h, over 100 m/s, in 1934) measured on the surface of the earth.

• Mount Washington is one of a line of summits called the Presidential Range, many of which are named after U.S. presidents and other prominent Americans.

Once upon a time …

Seven people followed their hike leader, Snow White, and successfully climbed to the top of Mount Washington and back down.

The original seven dwarfs were named Happy, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc, Dopey and Sleepy.

EXERCISE: Learn the names of the dwarfs. See next screen

Study these more traditional images and the corresponding names before proceeding to the “test”.
