Established in 1953.Manufactured and supplied over 100,000

machines till date for domestic market.Its networks has been extended over 40 countries with

more than 18,000 machines with annual Turn-over of 190.90 core.

HMT - AJMER

The Unit was established at Ajmer as “MACHINE TOOL CORPORATION OF INDIA LIMITD” a Government of India Undertaking in January,1967 in collaboration with Skoda export, Czechoslovakia and subsequently with WMW, GDR, the then East Germany, for the purpose of making India self-reliant in manufacture of precision Grinding Machines. This Unit was merged with HMT Limited in 1975.

PATTERN SHOP

Pattern is the first object needed for a casting. The Pattern shop is concerned with the construction of casting.

The commonly used materials in the pattern shop are following :

1.Metal (Aluminium, Cast Iron, Bronze etc)

2.Wood3.Thermocol.

FOUNDRY SHOP

There is well-equipped and modernized foundry running in HMT. There are 3  electric furnaces working in the foundry. All the requirements of machine tool division are fulfilled by this foundry. Casting is the final product of the foundry. Liquid metal is poured into mould and the molten metal takes the shape of the cavity.

MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT

MEDIUM MACHINING SHOP (MMS) : In this shop small parts of grinding machine like bush, spindle, shaft, pulley etc. are prepared.

ROUND SECTION (RS) : Here small rounded components are manufacture.

TOOL ROOM (TR) : jigs and fixtures are made in tool room.

HEAVY DUTY MACHINE SHOP (HDMS) : HDMS is a part of manufacturing department where heavy parts of machine are manufactured like machine bed, machine body, wheel head, work head, gear box body etc

The medium machining shop mainly deals with the following machines.Radial drilling

TOOL ROOMThis section is mainly used for grinding.

Plano milling machine

This is similar to a double housing planer but the tool can be milling tool. One of the machines is TNC (three axis turning centre) in which only one axis can be moved at a time. Thus round jobs cannot b machined here.

Another machine is CNC in which two axis can be moved simultaneously to machine round job. The length of the bed is 2800mm.

INSPECTION DEPARTMENT

In this department the all machined or finished part are inspected.

ASSEMBLY DEPARTMENT

It is a part of industries where whole parts of machine are assembled after inspection and final product is prepared.

• Maintenance is the work of keeping something in proper condition before and after use.

• They are 3- Types:- Break Down Maintenance Preventive Maintenance Corrective Maintenance

CONCLUSION

My personnel experienced in HMT-Ajmer signifies me that theoretical and bookish knowledge must be supplemented with the able practical knowledge.

And the companies of national pride like HMT must not be shut down or run in losses condition. Some measures must be taken to rise and solve out all the problems like decreasing the manufacturing time, The price of products of HMT-Ajmer is comparatively high so we must reduce it and the R&D team must be innovative and market oriented with increasing the investment from 0.01% to about 1% of their total turn over .
