Do you know that it is relatively

easier to raise animals

nowadays.

Improved scientific

the latest breeds of

animals bigger and

better sources of meat,

eggs and milk.

Plants, vegetables

and other farm

products used as

feeds, such as

camote tops, ipil-ipil

leaves and

sugarcane tops are

plentiful around us.

Do you want to help provide

supplementary food to your family?

Raise and fatten animals in

your backyard for their meat,

eggs or milk.

These are good source of

protein, minerals and other

food nutrients that our bodies

need.

family food needs, you

can sell your excess

products, eggs and milk

population and the need

for food items grow

faster than the supply.

backyard, you help bring

down or maintain the prices

of eggs, meat and meat

products. Many families,

especially in the provinces,

support their families and

send their children to school

by raising animals.

your backyard.

BENEFITS

FROM

LIVESTOCK

RAISING

Many Filipino families enjoy

raising animals in their own

backyards.

Aside from the additional

income they got from it, food

supplied by these animals

really help them.

Fresh meat, eggs and milk are

some of the products that we

get from the animals.

Different kinds of animals

can be raised by our own

backyards.

The decision on what on

what to raise depends on

the kind of surrounding or

environment one has.

For those living near a

body of water, fish and itik

are best to raise,

while in places where

there is wide, grassy

land, goats, cows and

rabbits are good to raise.

In bigger backyards,

pigs, chickens, quails,

doves and ducks are

better raised.

At present the livestock

industry gains a popular

support from among the

Filipino families.

Prices of meat in the

market and other buy

products are becoming

higher.

Other raw materials coming

from these animals like skin

and feathers could be used

in other industries.

Even animal manures

are being sold and made

into fertilizer.

If one is planning to

raise and take care of

any kind of animals,

he or she should have

adequate know-how

about it.
