COOMA HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT
User Group consultation
The redevelopment design team has undertaken
extensive consultation with staff and stakeholders
from each department that will be upgraded.
Consultation has involved input on the details of
room layouts including technology, fixtures,
furnishings and equipment.
When will work start?
Subject to planning approvals, construction is
expected to start in early 2019. The completion
timeframes will be confirmed once a construction
contractor is engaged.
What are the next steps?
Design Development is currently being finalised.
The tender call for the Head Contractors will take
place in the coming weeks.
What’s coming to Cooma
Hospital?
On 19 June 2018 the NSW Government announced
an additional $8.6 million of capital investment for
the project, bringing the total funding budget to
$18.6 million.
The Cooma Hospital Redevelopment will now
include:
an expanded Emergency Department and
new front entrance
a new Maternity Department, constructed on
level A of the hospital which will comprise
birthing rooms, bedrooms and essential
clinical and ancillary areas
a new Ambulatory Care Centre on Level B
including new consult and interview rooms
expansion of the Medical Imaging Department
to enhance and provide essential
improvements to ultra sound rooms as well as
improve functional efficiencies
light refurbishment of clinical support areas in
the Inpatient Unit and
the relocation of the Pathology Department to
Level B.

The Cooma Community Consultative Committee (CCC), local Council and community members will be
actively consulted throughout the planning of the Cooma Hospital Redevelopment.
