Locate the place where you want to create your own map – try turning the different views (map, satellite, hybrid, terrain) on and off.

Explore the symbols that are available to you – the default set is displayed but if you press on the down arrow in the box at the side of the word Markers a list of available icons are given. Choose a symbol set to use on your map.

• Drag an icon onto your map – click to open and then type in your message. Click once more in a blank space inside the box to save your text. Close the text box. Repeat with other symbols.

Use the text label facility to label the map.

Use the drawing tool to create lines, paths, routeways. (I used the scribble tool to create these routeways).

You can change the colour and thickness of this line by clicking on `pick’ which brings up a colour menu box.
