How to Create and Organize Multiple Playlists Using

Playlist.com

Kay RenDylan Rykowski

Introduction:

• Playlist.com is a free website that searches for songs and allows users to build playlists from songs they find.

• These playlists are easy ways to organize music.

• Playlists create a way to have your music when you are on a different computer than your own.

• This presentation will explain how playlist.com works and how to organize your playlists.

Things You Will Need

• Computer (PC or Mac)• Internet access

 • Playlist.com account (Requires an email address)

 • Songs you would like

Tips and Warnings

• You can organize your playlists however you want, whether it be genre or personal preference.

 • Each playlist holds a MAXIMUM of 200 songs

 • This site is for LISTENING to music only, meaning you

cannot download songs or music.

Step 1: Account Creation and Signing In

• Go to www.playlist.com • Click the Sign In button if you have an account • If you do not have an account, click the "Join"

button. The sign up process is simple and free.

Step 2: Create A Playlist

• Click the Create a Playlist button on the top of the page. (Circled in red on the next slide)

 • It is located between the "My Playlists" and "Share

My Playlist" buttons.

Step 3: Playlist Creation

• Enter the title you want your playlist to be named under in the title box.

• Enter a description of your playlist in the description box.

• Check the box if you want to make a group playlist.

Step 4: Searching For Songs

• Use the search bar to search for songs. (Circled in red)

• You can search for artist names, song names, album names, or a combination of the three.

Steps 5 and 6: Picking a song

• Browse through the songs from the list of results and find the song and artist you are looking for.

 •  Click the Play icon (circled in yellow) to hear the song. Check if this

is the correct song.  • The results often have multiple versions of a song

 •  Some results are only short clips of a song or the wrong song.

• Generally, the results will have the same song and the song you add to your playlist does not matter.

Step 7: Multiple Playlists

• Check the playlist box and see if the playlist you want is listed.

• If you have multiple playlists and want to add a song to a specific playlist, click the down arrow and select the playlist you want to add to.

• The playlists are organized by time of creation, so newer playlists are at the bottom of the list and older at the top.

Step 8: Adding Your Song

• Find the playlist you want the song to be in and click the add icon (directly below the play icon) next to the song.

• (See next slide to view where the add icon is located).

• When you add a song, it is automatically saved to your playlist.

Step 9: Adding More Music

• Search for more songs and add them as you see fit. • Songs that are already on your playlist have a

grayed-out add icon as seen below, also circled in red.

Step 10: Functions

• At this point you should have your own playlist. • You can continue adding to this playlist or make a

new playlist with different songs.  • The next slide explains how the playlist itself

functions.

Red: Click this icon to add a new playlist.Orange: Click this icon to open your playlist in a new window.Green: Click this icon to arrange your playlist. This will allow you to change song order.Blue:Double-click this icon to delete a song from your playlistPurple: This area displays the current song playing. From here you can pause/play, go to the next song or previous song, go to a specific part of a song, or adjust the volume.Gray: Where all of your songs on the playlist are displayed.Black: Click this to turn on Shuffle, which allows songs to be played in random order.Brown: Click this icon to report missing links (there are times when songs that show up do not work).

Step 11: Group Playlists

• As seen before in the playlist creation step, you can make a group playlist.

• Check the box (see above) and in the next screen, type in the usernames or email addresses of friends that you would like to make a playlist with.

• From there, you and anyone you invited can add and arrange songs on this playlist.

Step 12: Sharing Your Playlists With Others• You can also share your playlist with friends that

don't have a playlist.com account. There are a few ways to do so.

 • One way is by clicking the "My Playlists" button at

the top. Click the link to the playlist you want, and then copy the URL and give it to your friends.

 • Another similar way is opening your playlist in a new

window (See step 10, orange) and copying that URL.

Conclusion:

• That's it!  • You have successfully made your first playlist

and discovered a new way to organize songs and share playlists with friends - for free!
