How to use Basecamp 3

Go to

www.basecamp.com

You can either Sign-up with Basecamp,

…or Sign-up with your Google account.

With this, I have signed-up with my Google account.

Enter your company/organization.

Enter your job title.

Then click this green button.

Now we’re ready to roll!

Here you can see the title of the project,

…the description of your project

…the members of your team

…and the six tools in Basecamp also known as

Cards.

Let’s discuss those six cards one-by-one.

Campfire, is where you can chat with members

…and share each others’ ideas.

Under the Message card is where you can post your

…team’s goals and plans which anyone can comment

to.

Here is a sample message.

Notice that you can place a bookmark,

…share the message through a link

…or send the message directly to someone.

You can also move, copy, archive and delete the

message.

On the end part of the message,

…you can see an applause sign which members can

…click to give the person who posted the message

…a clap or like a tap-on-the-back.

Then below are the comments of the other

members.

On the lower part of the page, you can manage

…who can be notified

…if ever someone commentson this particular message.

You can either Select Everyone,

…Select No One,

…or choose members to be notified.

Choose from these two

…then click Save Changes.

To-dos, lets you assign a task to someone

…and give him/her a due date.

Click Make another list

Type-in a title.

Type-in the details or attach a file.

Then click Add this list.

Let’s now add a new to-do

…and Assign it to..

Then click Add this to-do.

This part denotes..

…the progress of your to-do list.

As I have clicked the first on the list,

…it has shown that half of the to-do list

…was already done.

Schedule, has two parts:What’s coming up? And

Looking back

…which lets you see the things that needs

…to be done and things that was already done.

Click this to create an event.

Type-in the name of the event.

Edit the date and time.

Name the person/s

concerned with the event.

Place a check for them to be

notified.

Add notes if necessary.

Then click Publish this event.

Check-in, the card where you can brainstorm with your

team

…and check on them on a scheduled basis.

To set-up an automatic check-in,

…click here.

Type the question you want to ask.

Add the names of the person/s you want to ask.

Edit how frequent the

question should be

asked.

Then click,

Docs & Files, is where you can upload important files,

…notes and images related to your project.

Done with Basecamp 3 basics! Now go and start your

project!
