Steppenwolf Theatre Company was named one of the Top 15 Small Workplaces by the Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces as well as one of Vault.com’s “Top 10 Internships in America.”
The Apprenticeship Program is a professional train-ing program for aspiring arts administrators and theatre production practitioners. Participants are given practical learning experiences, independent and collective projects, and the resposibility of an entry-level staff person in an administrative or production department. Apprentices receive oppor-tunities to attend professional development seminars and tickets to productions throughout Chicago. These positions pay minimum wage and are eligible for Steppenwolf’s part-time limited benefit medical and dental plan, as well as vision insurance and a pre-tax Chicago Transit Authority card.
The Internship Program is for current students or early career professionals looking for an intro-duction to arts administration and production. This program provides direct interaction with and access to Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Interns receive opportunities to attend professional development seminars and tickets to productions throughout Chicago. Participants can either volunteer or apply for academic credit. This program is supported in part by the James S. Kemper Foundation.
The Multicultural Fellowship is a professional development program for early career persons of color interested in working in arts administration. Through hands-on experience, independent and collective learning projects, mentorship and careerguidance, Fellows are given the tools to become strong, new voices in the leadership of the arts. The Fellowship includes a generous monthly housing and transportation stipend for those facing financial hardship as well as eligibility to receive compensa-tion towards Steppenwolf’s part-time limited benefit medical, dental, and vision insurance. Fellows are paid minimum wage. This program is supported in part by The Joyce Foundation.
