• 25 million unique monthly visitors

• Grew faster than Twitter and 15x faster than the Internet

Marketing Puffery

• Marketing sites not very fulfilling

• They target and then attempt to attract and inform

• Why is this not satisfying for consumers/constituents?

Be the Market

• Drupal developments have the potential

• to create markets 

• instead of just targeting markets

Webonomics

• Assumed consumers are scarce resource

•  This is silly because consumers are not resources

• Consumers are your market

Definition of Market

• place for

• exchange of value

• willing participants

Act As If

• As you plan your development• Start with the perspective • That you already have • All the clients you will ever need

Now, what can you do to exchange value with these clients?

Push Yourself

• Use your imagination

• Look at what others are doing in different industries

• How can you go way beyond what your competitors are doing?

Your Turn

• What is your organization doing NOW to create an exchange of value?

• What new "exchange of value" are you planning on offering?

• Is that as far as you can go?

Never Stop Challenging Yourself

• Accept the truth that 

• your development is a 

• lifelong journey that never ends
