HUMAN IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
In the next few weeks, we will be studying the impact of humans on the natural environment. Florida has a fragile ecosystem, and we are responsible for understanding and taking care of this ecosystem.
The quality of air and water impact our health as well as our future. The condition of the beaches as well as the pollution of our main river, the St. John River as well as its tributaries, impact our quality of life too. The rapid expansion of Jacksonville as the fastest growing city in Florida will impact our future too. As the population and traffic increase daily, our health and lives are impacted too.
To better understand these complex issues, we will each be researching a topic in depth. Your project will be presented to the class.
\
SC.7.E.6.6 Identify the impact that humans have had on Earth, such as deforestation, urbanization, desertification, erosion, air and water quality, and changing the flow of water.
Florida Environmental
Project
Read at least 3 articles on the topic. Take notes. List the references for these in your
notebook.
Make a list of key vocabulary and terms from those articles that need to be explained in the paper and presentation.
Decide whether you will make a PowerPoint, a model, or a Poster. Begin designing that project. Select a template for a PowerPoint, sketch your model to build, or design a layout for your poster. Put these designs in your notebook.
Create a Document in Word and Make and Outline of your topic. Use the References tab to put in the information on the articles you read. Read 2 more sources.
Use your outline to write a 2-3 page of text including citations. The font must be Times New Roman size 12. This will be at least 650 words. You may not copy any material directly from its source. Diagrams or photos do not change the length of the paper required.
