HOMEWORK: YEARBOOK COVER DESIGN Create a horizontal 10.5” x16” yearbook cover design that encompasses what it
means to be a student at Sudbrook. Think about imagery that will communicate the experiences of all students here, and what a yearbook represents as a part of school culture. The cover may be a combination of media, as long as they are professionally used and the composition is carefully considered.
Complete criteria1 & 2 by the in-progress deadline, and use feedback received at the in-progress deadline to complete criteria 3-9. When finished, please grade yourself and include this rubric with your finished cover design:
RATINGS: 0=Not at all 1=Barely 2=Sort of 3=Mostly 4=Definitely

2. Sketched a LIGHT full-size line contour drawing on final paper of their chosen thumbnail drawing (in-progress)
3. Listened to the feedback/suggestions received on the in-progress due date and made adjustments accordingly
4. Created a successful composition that uses the space on the front & back covers well, using 2 principles of design (list below): _________________________ + __________________________
5. Careful consideration was given to a full range of black/white values and/or a color scheme that enhances the design
6. Used drawing references (where necessary) to strengthen the clarity and professionalism of the cover design
7. Chose media/materials that made sense with and enhanced the design, and used them neatly and effectively
8. Created professional/clearly legible lettering (by hand or typeset) stating “Sudbrook Magnet Middle School” and “2011-2012,” and signed the back cover with your name (small, about ¼-inch tall)
9. Considered how text and imagery interact in the yearbook cover and integrated them seamlessly into the design
