Sing His Love Caedmon’s Call

Confession of SinLORD God Almighty, you are the great and Awesome One. Our hearts bow before your holy presence in humble worship this day. We stand amazed that you stoop to listen to our cries and receive our prayers. We are a people who often neglect your word and turn against your ways. We often have hearts that fail to love you and feet that fail to obey you.

Yet we affirm Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God, our only hope in life and in death. Father we thank you that His grace is greater than all our sin and that His power within us is mightier than the power of the Evil One. Reign in our hearts Lord Jesus, that we might glorify your name to a broken, skeptical world. Amen

CONCERT OF PRAYER: Friday, September 7, 2012, 7PM

Focus: The Next Generation

“he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. : Psalm 78:5,6

Scripture ReadingJohn 15:1-17

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Scripture ReadingJohn 15:1-17

6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.

11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Scripture ReadingJohn 15:1-17

16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

THROUGH CHRIST(PART 2)

Ephesians 4:25-5:225 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil.

28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God
