IanPageandTheMozartistsreturntoWigmoreHallandmaketheirdébutatLichfieldFestivalwithaprogrammeexploringMozart’stravelsacrossEurope.Therepertoirecomprisesamixtureofconcertos,symphoniesandariascomposedinLondon,TheHague,Paris,Munich,Vienna,PragueandRome.Thecompany’saward-winningAssociateArtistLouiseAlderwillperformthreearias,includingIlia’s“SeiIpadreperdei”fromIdomeneo,andprincipalsfromTheMozartiststakecentrestagetoperformtwoofMozart’smostpopularconcertos:Mozart’sConcertoinCmajorforFluteandHarpisperformedbyKatyBircherandOliverWass,whilstGavinEdwardsperformstheHornConcertoNo.4inEflatmajor.Mozarttravelledextensivelyduringhisshortlife,particularlyinhisearlyyears–betweenhis7thand15thbirthdayshewasawayfromhomeforatotalofalmostsixyears–andhisfinaltriptoPragueendedlessthantwomonthsbeforehisdeath.Thesetravelsplayedacrucialroleinforginghisartisticpersonality,enablinghimtobecomeacquaintedwithawiderangeofmusicandmusicians.Inparticular,hisextendedstaysinLondonandParisbeforehehadturnedtenandhisyearinItalyattheageoffourteenprovidedauniqueeducation,exposinghimtodifferentstyles,traditionsandoutlooks.

Thefeaturedworksinthisprogrammerangefromeight-year-oldMozartinLondoncomposinghisfirstsymphonytohishornconcertoand“Bellamiafiamma…Resta,ocara”,writteninhisthirties.
