Things to consider
Before you commence work with iBooks Author it’s worth knowingits strengths and its limita+ons:
IBA can only be used with a Mac running 10.7, OS X Lion or later.
IBA publishes files called .ibooks. This file type is also known asiBooks textbooks (it is closely related to .ePub version 3).
The ibooks format can only be opened with version 2 of iBooks on the iPad.
TIP: iBooks on the iPhone/iPod is not quite the same as iBooks on your iPad. Only the iPad version opens iBooks textbooks

Things to consider...
iBooks textbooks are perfect for crea+ng interac+ve, media rich books.
As a study aid there is no beVer format for illustra+ng facts in a meaningful way.
You can distribute your book internally to your students and colleagues or you may choose to publish it to the iTunes Bookstore. It’s up to you if you want to charge.

Ge\ng started:Not necessarily in this order... you can preview your book at any +me!
Choose a templateWorking with Apple templates is a great way to get started. In the case of IBA it’s the only way to get going. But I would recommend that you try to deviate away from the template as best as you can as many books will start to look similar!
Add your contentAdding content to your book is the fun part. Use Text boxes, add widgets, photographs, videos tables and charts. If you have a Pages, Text or Word document you can just drag the document onto a page.
Create glossary entriesIden+fy words you want linked to a defini+on in the glossary (every template includes a glossary). You can add text or media to the defini+ons.
Preview your bookWhen your content is complete, preview your book on an iPad.
Share your bookExport your book and distribute it yourself, or submit it to the iBookstore and request for it to be published and made available to the public.
