Cell Organelles

Year 12 Presentations

The Aim

• To produce a large wall display showing electron photomicrographs of the organelles in plant and animal cells.

• Each pair to produce picture and summary of information about a given organelle, and present this to the group.

The Task

• You will be allocated a cell organelle to research.

• You need to produce a picture and detailed labels for the wall display.

• You must also deliver a short presentation of the information you have gained to the rest of the group.

• You must produce a short (no more than one side of A4) handout which I will photocopy for the rest of the group.

• You will need to include:– A colour electron photomicrograph (if

possible) of your organelle, which we will laminate and display on the wall.

– A neat, detailed diagram if you cannot find a micrograph.

– Where in the cell the organelle is found.– Animal/plant cell/both?– Function.– Structure.– Size.

Resources

• Internet sites:– Dennis Kunkel’s microscopy webpage.– Cells alive.
