Today’s Menu1. Use idioms that

show what is ‘good and beautiful’;

2. Illustrate a literal definition of an idiom;

3. Explain the meaning of an idiom;

What is an IDIOM? It is a phrase

where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words.

Idiom Exercise

Fill in the blanks with the correct word to come up with sentences containing idioms in different categories. Write your answer on your whiteboard.

COLOR IDIOMS

GROUP ACTIVITY

Group 1Quick draw an illustration Of the idiom assigned to you in a way that can be understood by Grades 1-2-3 learners. Assign three (3) members to do the following tasks:• Present the idiom and

give its meaning.• Explain the drawing.• Give a sentence using

the idiom.

Group 2

You have been given three (3) idioms. Act them out for the rest of the class to guess.

Group 3

Write a ‘Can you believe it?’ story using at least three (3) idioms you have learned today. Read the story before the class.

Group 4

Write a prayer using at least three (3) idioms you have learned today. Follow the ACTS format. Assign one member to read the prayer before the class.

ASSIGNMENT List five (5) idioms in Hiligaynon and give their English equivalent. You may ask the help of your Nanay and Tatay, Lola and Lolo, as well as other family members in accomplishing this task. Be ready to share your list in class next meeting.
