Sample Process Essay

IELTS Writing Part 1

The diagram depicts a method of producing coffee called the dry method. There are 12 steps in the process from sorting to packaging and sales.

In the first stage of the process, the beans are sorted by hand and then they are washed over a sieve. After this, they are put out in the field where they are left to dry in the sun for approximately 4 weeks. During this time they are constantly raked and turned to aid in the drying process. Once they are dry, they are placed in silos for storage. Then large trucks come to collect the beans and deliver them to the mill.

In the mill, workers begin hulling the beans. They are graded for size and quality and then they are placed into bags. After that, the coffee is sold to various purchasers. The buyers are responsible for roasting the coffee. Finally, when the roasting is complete, the coffee is packed and sold around the world for consumers.
