Structure of SLMs

• Important activity of Learner Support Services • It is the Key to the success of Learner in ODL• Counselling helps overcoming problems in study• Enhances the effective Learning• Communication is substantially from the Learner to

Counsellor (Individual problem, query in study) • Tutoring is basically course centric• Interaction helps to explanation, illustration,

• 2 credits - Three 2 ½ hr sessions

• 4 credits - Five 2 ½ hr session

• 8 credits - Ten 2 ½ hr session

• BED 4 credits – 6 2 hr sessionNote: if no. of students is less than 10, only

40% of sessions will be conducted

Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA)

Learner is isolated

• Integral and Compulsory for each Theory courses• Learner has to write Assignment responses before

taking TEE• Generally carries 25% to 30% weightage in TEE

final grades• Variety of Questions such as Essay type, Short

answer type, Objective type and problem solving exercises etc.

• Assignments shall be accurate and in conformity with IGNOU norms

Grading/Marking

• 2 credits - 7days of two 4hr session per day

• 4 credits -14 days of two 4hr session per day

• MCA/BCA - 1 credit– 10 sessions of 3hr each

Role of Counsellor in Practical

• Check the Programme Guide • Ask the Counsellor for help and wherever necessary

IGNOU School Coordinator at SOMS• BCA/MCA/MA (Edu) like programmes the viva-voce

will be carried out at RC• Ask the necessary guidance from LSC

Field work/Internship/Projects

• For Semester based programmes MP, MCA and Masters and Bachelors programmes

• RR Forms available in IGNOU website and can be had from RC

• Submit in advance and prior to commencement of session as per schedule in prospectus

• Before taking the next Semester /Session, check your RR status in website and confirm the courses

• RR is must for taking next semester/session
