Romans 14:14-21

I’M OFFENDED!

Everyone is offended from time to time, and we offend others (usually unknowingly).

Most church problems do not usually arise over doctrine, but in personality disagreements.

This morning’s lesson is about personal relationships and how to make them better.

Introduction

1. Cain and Abel.In envy and anger; Cain killed his brother.

slave traders instead.

I’M OFFENDED!

hands of Esau.

SOLUTION 1:Fulfill Your Duties to God

A. See Rom. 14:7-12.

B. This is your utmost responsibility.

C. Notice the following passages: 1. “You follow Me!” (Jn. 21:21,22).2. Tend to your own business (1Th. 4:11).3. God seeks true worshipers (Jn. 4:23,24).4. Seek first the kingdom of God (Mt. 6:33).

SOLUTION 2:Fulfill Your Duties to Others

A. See Rom. 14:13-20.

B. Pursue things of peace, and learn when your actions might cause others to be offended.

C. Notice the following passages:1. Do good unto all men (Gal. 6:10).2. Be subject one to another (1Pet. 5:5).3. Practice forgiveness (Mk. 11:25).4. Help restore one caught in sin (Gal. 6:1).

SOLUTION 3:Fulfill Your Duties to Self

A. See Rom. 14:21-23.

B. Develop your own faith, allow the word to shape your conscience so that when you act you can do so without doubting. Such doubt would be to condemn your self.

C. Notice the following passages:1. Examine yourself spiritually (2Cor. 13:5).2. Keep yourself free from sin (1Tim. 5:22).3. Do whatever it takes (Phil. 2:12).

I’M OFFENDED!

Conclusion

A. To solve the problems between you and others you must take the initiative.

B. If you have been offended, go to the one who has sinned against you (Mt. 18:15-18).

C. If you have offended someone, go to them and make amends before you worship God (Mt. 5:23,24).

D. Remember, Rom. 12:19,17.
