ITTO project in Sarawak
on 5 - 9 November 2015
ITTO project has facilitated two internship programs which have been been
implemented in Sarawak on 5 - 9 November 2015, namely: i) to carry out
training on Semah fish raising, and ii) to assist local communities in the
production of quality gaharu commodity. The first program was devoted to
Indonesian participants while the second one was devoted primarily for
Sarawakian local communities. A group of BKNP representatives comprising
the management advisor to BKNP-ITTO Project, a gaharu expert, two
technical staffs of BKNP and four local community leaders, participated in
the two mentioned programs while from the Sarawak side, the participants
consisted of Forest Department Sarawak (FDS) staffs and local
communities in selected localities interested in gaharu commodity
development. This programs was based on the Letter of Intent (LOI) signed
by BKNP and FDS Authorities on 5 October 2015 as a concrete follow up to
Activity 1.1 of project PD 617/11 Rev. 4 (F), due to the fact that formal
establishment of the joint task force between Indonesia and Malaysia is
experiencing a serious delay.
