IN-SITU CONSERVATIONThe conservation method in which organisms are protected in their natural habitat.
eg :- wild life sanctuary , national park, community reserves, biosphere reserves , sacred groves , ecological hotspots
WILD LIFE SANCTUARY
These are protected areas declared as protected areas to prevent the extinction of wild lifes by protecting the ecosystem Eg :- Peppara , Periyar , Wayanad
NATIONAL PARKSThese are designed to protect wild lifes along with the protection of historical monuments , natural resources , geographical features. eg :- Eravikulam , Silent Valley , Anamudi Shola , Mathikettan Shola
COMMUNITY RESERVES
These are areas protected with the participation of the public . These are ecologicaly importannt areas located in populated areas.
eg :- Kadalundi community reserve
BIOSPHERE RESERVESThese are vast regions designed with an aim to protect the important ecosystems , biodiversity and genetic resources
eg :- Nilagiri , Agasthyarkoodam
SACRED GROVES
These are small areas of biodiversity protected in regions inhabitated by human beings . Sacred groves play an importatnt role in the conservation of water in the regions too.
ECOLOGICAL HOTSPOTThese are areas rich in endemic species but facing the threat of habitat destruction . Each hotspot is ecologically a very important area of biodiversity.
eg:- Western Ghats , North-Eastern Himalayas , Indo-Burma region
