Masala chai (in Hind literally "mixed-spice tea") is a flavored

tea beverage made by brewing black tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian

spices and herbs. Originating in South Asia, the beverage has gained

worldwide popularity, becoming a feature in many coffee andtea houses.

Did you Know?

In many asian languages, chai or cha is the word for tea. This comes from

the Persian chay, which originated from the Mandarin word for tea chá.

7- Stir the chai, then strain it into a warmed teapot or directly into teacups.

Write it down

1- Which herbs and spices do people use more often in Brazil?

2- What do people use it for? (e.g.: cooking, treatment of diseases, hygiene and beauty products, etc.)

3- What is your favourite herb or spice? What do you like the most about it? (if you do not like any, please use your imagination and choose the herb or spice you find more interesting)

4- How do you usually employ it?

5- Do you know other ways herbs and spices are employed in other places in the world?

Write down all the ideas you discussed in class. Plus, do a quick research (written or printed) about the herb you planted. Where was it originated? What are the most common uses for it? What properties it possesses?
