The present source of fuel

Non renewable sources and their effects• Global warming• Photochemical pollution• Acid rain• Thermal pollution• Disastrous effects

Renewable energy source

Solar power system

Efficiency Solar Cell with 44.7% EfficiencyThe Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE,and the Helmholtz Center Berlin jointlyachieved a new world record for the conversion of sunlight into electricity using a new solar cell structure with four solar subcells.

Wind power system

• Let us consider a load of 100 % power supply• But there is no renewable system to fulfil this need.• So what can we do?

Integrated/Hybrid power

• Hybrid power are combinations between different technologies to produce power.

• Hybrid systems combine two or more modes of electricity generation together, usually using renewable technologies such as solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind turbines

• . The gasoline/kerosine engine drives the dynamo which charges the storage battery.

Solar-Wind Power System

1.Introduction of solar sail deployment concept

Important requirements• Solar sail deployment system• Thin ,flexible solar panels• Wind turbines• Temperature Sensors• Actuators

Thin solar panels• Researchers at MIT have created

prototype solar cells so light and so thin, that they can be balanced on the surface of a soap bubble without breaking it.

Flexible solar panels• The production of flexible solar

panels requires as little as 1% of the amount of silicon used in rigid crystalline panels. In addition, the sunlight absorber layer is cadmium free (environmentally friendly), as well as a commercially viable, low cost technology.

Thin – flexible solar cells• Solar En ergy Tech no logy has de veloped a method

to man u fac ture su per-thin, light-weight, and flex ible solar cells re quir ing 75% less energy to produce and 90% less silicon materials than sim ilar pan els. • The product is the out come of com bin ing the ad

vant ages of flex ible thin-film solar cell tech no logy and highly effi cient crys tal line sil icon tech no lo gies. • The solar cells can reach an efficiency of up to 22%,

while also per form ing well with wide-angle and weak light.

Solar sails

Unfurling solar panels

Applying piezo-electric effect• Piezoelectric Effect is the ability of certain materials to generate an

electric charge in response to applied mechanical stress.

2.Sleek solar-wind accumulation system

3. Using turbine blades as solar panels

Advantages• Greater balance in energy supply.• Increase in system efficiency• It Cannot Possibly be Deplete• Reduced Cost of Operations• Renewable Energy Has Little Waste Products• The Projects Provide Economic Benefits• Ecofriendly

Disadvantages• Prices of hybrid systems are higher than simple solar (or a wind)

systems, for the same electric output.• Difficulty in Generating Large Quantity of Electricity• The Problem on the Supply and its Reliability

Applications• Street lights• Surveillance systems• Houses and offices.• Charging cell phones• Reusable batteries
