th th th17 IBCAST 14 - 18 January 2020 07
thIt is a matter of pride to welcome you to 18 International Bhurban Conference on
Applied Sciences & Technology (IBCAST), the conference will be held from 12 – 16
January, 2021. IBCAST has achieved prestige of being the largest educational &
technical meet in Pakistan. IBCAST signifies incessant desire of scientists and
engineers to bridge up the gap in scientific & technological development
opportunities across the world.
The Covid-19 pandemic rocked the world in early 2020 and its harmonics are being th
experienced internationally, so we have decided to conduct the 18 IBCAST with
all its activities in “virtual” to keep all of us connected as well as safe.
The progresses in science and technology have perked-up the standards of
affluence where scientists and technologists are striving hard to bring solutions to
the emerging and persisting problems. In the quest for bringing improvement in
our part of the world, we gather each year on this wonderful cross-cultural
platform to share ideas and innovative research. We are enthusiastically looking
forward to benefit out of the high level research from other parts of the world.
Your active participation and support in this forum will enable us to achieve
mutual scientific goals associated with this multidisciplinary forum.
IBCAST this year will have ten activities, namely Advanced Materials,
Aerostructures, Biosciences, Control & Signal Processing, Cyber Security, Fluid
Dynamics, Medical Sciences, Underwater Technologies and Wireless
Communication & Radar, running in parallel. Artificial Intelligence is an emerging
and extremely useful area and living to the expectations of our valued
participants, IBCAST has this time included Artificial Intelligence & Software
Technologies (AI&ST) as a separate track to our existing galaxy of advanced
technology areas.
We have prepared a comprehensive programme of scientific activities that would
allow you to establish new network opportunities and to renew friendships. I am
sure the conference will be a grand scientific extravaganza and hope it will be
fruitful, rewarding and memorable.

th th th17 IBCAST 14 - 18 January 2020 09
IBCAST activity started in 1995 as a part of International Nathiagali Summer College (INSC). It was
organized as a separate one-week activity from the platform of INSC. Later on, the interest and the
scope of the activity expanded to such an extent that the organizers felt the need of a separate
platform. Therefore, it was decided that from 2002, a separate conference by the name of
International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences and Technology (IBCAST) would be
conducted. In 2005, the governing body of CESAT in view of expanding the forum for technical
interaction, decided to shift the conference to CESAT Headquarters, Islamabad.
Every year the scientific activities of IBCAST aim at a broad coverage of topics both at the frontiers of
knowledge and forefront of the applicability to the current scientific needs.
Up till now 17 conferences have been arranged to thoroughly establish the role of science in
development. Modern technology is the base for development in the industrialized countries. This is
where the third world countries lack, the gap getting wider since they are deficient in the
fundamental sciences which form the backbone of technological development. Transfer of
technology can bring growth but to make it sustainable –sound scientific knowledge is necessary.
Gathering under this unique umbrella with the commitment to disseminate knowledge for better
application, the gap between the developed and developing countries will certainly be narrowed-
down.
History
EMERGENCE of IBCAST
The objectives of IBCAST series of conferences are as follows:
Objectives
· To break the isolation of the region with particular reference to challenges and opportunities
offered by the accelerating pace of growth of new technologies.
· To provide an opportunity for mutual interaction, exchange of ideas and discussions of
scientific-technological issues, as well as furthering collaboration between scientists and
engineers from different parts of the world.
· To emphasize the need, and to find ways and means, for the application of modern
technological developments with special reference to the needs and requirements of the
developing countries.
-
Effective dissemination of scientific information has been ensured at IBCAST with the selection of
faculty consisting of renowned scientists, distinguished for their achievements in the fields selected
for discussion. The faculty from the following countries has participated in the proceedings of the
conference:
Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Japan, Jordon,
Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South
Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, UK, Ukraine and USA
THE FACULTYand Collaboration
This series of conferences aims at bringing together
scientists, engineers, technologists and scholars from
different parts of the world on the same platform, who
are specialists in their fields, to endeavour and impart
their ideas, original work, research findings and written
papers. To give this conference a truly international feel
and scope, from the past five years IBCAST is talking
place in collaboration with prestigious universities.
We have formed association with; Beihang University
(BUAA); Beijing, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT),
Beijing; Nanjing University of Aeronautics and
Astronautics (NUAA); Nanjing, Northwestern
Polytechnical University (NPU), Xi'an, Shanghai Jiao
Tong University (SJTU), Shanghai, Harbin Engineering
University (HEU), Harbin and Wuhan Institute of
Virology (WIV), Wuhan. It is a matter of pride that more
than 30 Foreign Invited Speakers and 30 Foreign
Participants have joined us. This figure of foreigners
attending a conference in Pakistan is a record in itself
and speaks volumes of our journey of success.
Another attractive feature of IBCAST is that the
research papers presented through this forum go on to
be published in the world renowned journals IEEE
Publications. We endeavour to keep up this tradition of
excellence and enhance it from year to year.

th18 IBCAST VENUE National Centre for Physics
The National Centre for Physics (NCP) represents the fulfillment of a dream of Prof. Abdus Salam.
When Prof. Abdus Salam helped to launch the International Nathiagali Summer College on Physics
and Contemporary Needs in Pakistan in 1976, he hoped that this venture would eventually evolve
into a Centre for Physics. Today his vision has been realized. Over the past few years; the continuing
development of a sustainable science base in NCP has been seen. The successful development of
science and technology is about finding local talents, nurturing them and developing them. It is also
about attracting world-class scientists and scholars to come to live and work at the National Centre
for Physics.
NCP hosts workshops, conferences and symposia on subjects related to Physics and Mathematics. In
addition, the Centre carries out research in areas that are not covered by any institute of Physics. One
such area being pursued by the Centre involves a number of activities in Experimental High-Energy
Physics through a co-operative agreement with CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. Besides this, NCP has
collaborations with several international institutes and universities in the field of Theoretical Physics
including AS ICTP, Trieste, Italy; Centre for Plasma Astrophysics (CPA), K-Leuven University, Belgium;
Tokyo University, Tokyo, Japan; Ruhr University, Bochum (RUB), Germany and many others. Several
research papers are published in reputed international journals each year from NCP through national
and international collaborations.
