Oh, hey Mike what are you doing?

Calling a cab. I’m on my way to the library reference center.

You know you can find everything you need online, right?

Not everything is on the Web, search engines only access up to 20% of the internet while leaving behind 80% of

specialized searchable databases, which can be accessed for free at the library. Besides its not always smart to rely on only

one resource, the reference center offers a variety reliable resources that can’t be accessed on the Web.

But searching online is easy.

Not really, there is no organized catalog when you search the Web. On the other hand, the

reference center has a catalog, ready reference questions, and selected materials that the

librarian has carefully selected and put together to meet my needs.

Besides if I need help; I can approach the reference guide who is always willing to

help, she listens to my inquiries with interest and guides me through the process. On

top of all that, she always makes sure I find what I need. The Web can’t do that.

How about the fees they charge? You know everything is free on the Internet.

No, not everything is free. On the Web you have to pay to access magazines and scholarly

journals in full text. While the library has already done those expenses for you.

Really?

I heard the Internet provides people with valuable and dependable information and no

one can put anything on the internet that isn’t true.

The Internet.

Oh yea, where did you hear that?

There's a library media specialist that is trained to conduct classes which educate the

user on information literacy. You should consider attending a session, it will help you

determine whether a site is reliable or not.

I heard the Internet knows more than any media specialist.

Where did you hear that?

The Internet.The Internet.

Oh look, here comes my date!

I met him on the internet.

He's a French model.

Uhh, bonjour.
