DESCRIPTIONHydra is a repository solution that isbeingusedby institutionsworldwide toprovideaccess to theirdigital content.Hydra provides a versatile and feature rich environment for end-users and repository administrators alike. Hydraleverages Fedora 4, the robust, modular, open source repository platform for the management, preservation, anddisseminationofdigital content, including researchdata. Fedora4 features include vast improvements in scalability,linkeddatacapabilities,researchdatasupport,modularity,easeofuse,andmore. Thisworkshopwill provide an introduction to and overviewofHydra and Fedora 4,with a focus on getting up andrunningwithanewHydra-based repository.Afteran initial reviewof themost significant featuresand functionality,participantswilllearnhowtomodeldatainHydrausinglinkeddatabestpractices. Attendeeswill have the opportunity (in sections 3 and 4) to participate in hands-on activities and exploreHydra byfollowing step-by-step instructions using a preconfigured virtual machine environment. This will give participants achancetoexperienceHydrafirst-hand.DevelopersandadministratorsinterestedinworkingonHydrawilllearnaboutthesoftwaredevelopmentprocessandprocedures,includinghowtodiscovercontentinHydraviaSolrandanexternaltriplestore.
