• Small exercises to help you become familiar with web 2.0 tools and applications

• Originated with Helene Blowers at PLCMC and inspired by Stephen Abram’s musings on 43 things http://www.43things.com/

• Creative Commons licence• Over 1000 libraries worldwide

• Structured way to explore Web 2.0

• Encourages reflective learning

• Fits with adult lifelong learning

• Promotes a shared learning culture

• Raises awareness of other library implementations of Web 2.0 tools and applications

• Fun!

• Reviewed original and other 23 things sites• Used the tools and chose 23 things• Found relevant / fun / interesting implementations• Launched it• Ran it for 14 weeks

23 things – what was it like doing it?

• Staying a step ahead

• Informal feedback

What worked well

• the weekly email reminders• the lunchtime talks• the Common Craft video clips• reading other people's blogs• seeing how easy some things were and creating

awareness

What didn't work so well

• sometimes there were too many things to do in one week, especially in an hour

• setting up all the accounts and remembering the passwords

• sometimes too much descriptive text• the RSS feeds exercise came too soon• the Twitter exercise should have come sooner

• LNSS repeats 2009 and 2010
